Job Description

Waste Connections is looking for individuals who have a passion for driving, value career growth, and share our #1 value: SAFETY! We are currently seeking a Yard Jockey to join our team at our Florida location.

Pay: $20-$25/hr. depending on experience.

Work Week: Hours of 11AM EST to 7PM EST.

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this position, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers, containers, and other equipment around our facility yard - not operating on public roadways or a residential/commercial route.

This role is ideal for early-career CDL holders looking to gain valuable experience or for seasoned drivers who want a more stable, less demanding driving role towards the later stages of their career.

As a Yard Jockey with Waste Connections, you'll be responsible for safely maneuvering trailers, containers, and equipment throughout our facility yard - keeping operations organized and efficient, without the pressures of long-haul or route driving. This role is perfect for early-career CDL holders gaining experience or seasoned drivers seeking a steadier, less demanding position. As a Yard Jockey at Waste Connections, you'll move trailers, containers, and equipment within our facility yard - no over-the-road driving required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safely maneuver trailers, containers, and equipment within the yard and between designated spots.
  • Perform basic inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Communicate with operations teams to ensure timely equipment staging and movements.
  • Maintain clean and organized yard areas.
  • Comply with all company and DOT safety standards and regulations.
  • Assist with other yard and facility duties as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Class A required.
  • Minimum of 12 months of Tractor Trailer professional driving experience required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb in and out of equipment safely.
  • Able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
